Hearing Test

An Audiological evaluation is a series of diagnostic procedures used to determine the type, degree, and configuration of hearing loss.
The goal of this evaluation is to develop a treatment plan that is unique to the patient’s needs in order to improve their communication skills.

Otoscopy

Otoscopy is a clinical procedure used by the audiologist to examine structures of the ear, particularly the external auditory canal, the tympanic membrane and some aspects of the middle ear too.

Pure Tone Audiometry

Pure tone audiometry is a behavioral test used to measure hearing sensitivity. This measure involves the peripheral and central auditory systems. Pure tone thresholds (PTTs) indicate the softest sound audible
to an individual at least 50% of the time.

Play Audiometry

Play audiometry is a behavioral test. It assesses hearing acuity using conditioned responses to sound by engaging in play-oriented activities.
The child is conditioned to perform a play activity (i.e., dropping a block in a bucket) whenever he or she hears a sound. Appropriate for testing children from 30 months to 5 years of age.

Visual Reinforcement Audiometry (VRA)

Visual Reinforcement Audiometry (VRA) is a behavioral audiometric test obtained in a sound-treated room. Appropriate for testing children from
age 7 months to 30 months.

Speech Audiometry

Speech tests are required to determine how softly you are able to hear words or how clearly you are able to understand words. The patient will be asked to repeat the words the same way he heard them from his audiologist. Speech Discrimination ability is typically measured as a percentage score.

Immittance Measurements

Tympanometry
Tympanometry is an acoustic evaluation of the condition of the middle
ear eardrum (tympanic membrane) and the conduction bones by creating variations of air pressure in the ear canal.

Acoustic Reflex
The Acoustic reflex measurements provide information about the middle and inner ear, in addition to the eighth and seventh nerve (proximal to the innervation of stapedius) and brainstem function.

Reflex Decay
Reflex Decay is a diagnostic test particularly useful in confirmation of retrocochlear pathology.

Otoacoustic Emission test (OAE)

The primary purpose of otoacoustic emission (OAE) tests is to determine cochlear status, specifically outer hair cells function. The normal cochlea does not just receive sound; it also produces low-intensity sounds called OAEs.

Auditory Brainstem Response test (ABR)

The ABR test involves attaching electrodes to the head to record electrical activity from the auditory nerve (the hearing nerve) and other parts of the brain.
We use Vivosonic Integrity TM V500, the best system for auditory diagnostic testing and new born hearing screening. It is the world’s first and only wireless objective hearing-assessment system. This device enables us to test patients without sedation or anesthesia.
